Comments: I read Don Webb's book about 5 years ago and loved it. I will
be applying to the Temple soon. I first heard about Temple of Set when
I was a teen back in the late 80's. I saw Dr. A. on Sally Jessie durring
my not so brief brush with truancy. I am a Satanist and have been for
a wile. I think The first time I ever realised that was right after seeing
that talk show. What a long strange trip it has been indeed.
Keep up the good work! I hope to be back again to this site soon.One last
thought I love sheeple. They taste great with mint jelly and a splash
of unholy humor. A valueable part of any true sceptics diet.

Comments: I find this rather odd about "Setians"... They like
to throw the word "sheep" around a lot, i.e., if you're not
a Setian, you're a sheep. Great philosophy, folks, but let's look at what
I've noticed about 99% of all "Setians" I've met.
1) Their over-blown vocabulary is nearly identical
2) All have the same "piss on you" attitude, even if you're
being polite.
3) I can almost quote very Setian word for word, because every word that
comes our of every one of their mouths is nearly identical
"Sheep", you say... Hmmm. Lose the attitude, folks.. We're all supposed to be in this together.

Comments: I'm writing this to discourage bright young magicians from joining
the ToS.
After joining this organization in 1998 (due to the information on websites like this), I dedicated myself to be "Recognized". I spent months working with two members of the Priesthood; both soon resigned from the Temple of Set, leaving me out to dry.
Luckily, I met another Priest, Walter Radtke, and was Recognized within three months.
My career hinges on understanding contemporary culture (I am currently a Graduate Student at the University of Chicago in Fine Art). Due to this, I have to understand and cope with the problems of postmodernism. I was excited by the idea of opening up a dialogue focusing upon occultism in relation to postmodernism, which I saw was strangely missing from the ToS reading lists.
After getting the OK from Don Webb, the High Priest, another Adept and I attempted to create a small internal group (AKA "Element") which would deal with postmodernity. Everything was rolling along smoothly; there was even an article introducing our group in the ToS newsletter.
Then, out of the blue, Dr. Aquino attacked all postmodernists on a setian e-list, demanding that we stop bringing up postmodernism or get kicked out. Don Webb, who claims to be a postmodernist, did not defend us. In fact, after he saw his master come at us with his stick, Webb curled up like a puppy in the corner with its tail between its legs. Dr. Aquino and Balanone try to make the ToS out to be like some kind of university. Aquino's threats and attempts to silence us betray that lie. Webb had told us that we insulted our teacher's teacher--you were hardly my teacher, hypocrite.
Around the same time, Walter Radtke, the Priest who "Recognized" me, was forced to leave the ToS because the Schreks got angry that he gave out a supposedly restricted address; believe me, the whole thing was silly and trumped up.
Radtke thought it was a problem that the membership never grew. He thought there was something wrong that so many new setians tried to contact members of the Priesthood, and were rewarded with brush-offs and egoism. He voiced his opinions openly, was recommended to become a Magister, and then rejected; I can't imagine _those_ numbskulls rejecting Radtke, what a laugh.
The ToS is more about politics and strict protocols than true initiation. The ToS never consciously risks its own existence by truly venturing out "beyond the borders". It is a cowardly, dogmatic, anti-Setian organization. If you are wise, do not join ANY organization, do your own reseach, free from restrictions, egos, and petty bickering.

When Seth was slain by Horus, the murder of our great father Osiris was
avenged. Horus took the throne of Egypt, and all the land rejoiced as
the birthright of their beloved king was restored. Horus brought light
and prosperity to his people, and Egypt was made one. But still a great
plague was on the land of Egypt, in the form of the vile minions Seth
had spawned. These creatures did corrupt the people, and brought despair
and destruction upon their households.
When Horus learned of this plague he summoned to him his two sons, called Amenhotep and Khetamon. He commanded them to go into Egypt, and free his people from the infestation of Set's children. And so the brothers did go, to obey their father's word.
Set's minions were many, and though Amenhotep and Khetamon were fierce they were forced to flee back to their father's house. When Horus learned of the strength of his enemies, he provided his sons with small armies with which to defeat Set's brood. Amenhotep and Khetamon went out into Egypt again, to face the enemies of their father and their father's father.
But Set had granted his children the power of the serpent, making them horrible creatures of the darkness. Set's followers did tempt and slay the armies of Horus, and Amenhotep and Khetamon returned to tell Horus of their failure. When he learned of the powers of Seth's brood, Horus decreed that Amenhotep and Khetamon must find ten among his people that would not fall to temptation. He commanded his sons to return to him in two days time with these ten.
So Amenhotep and Khetamon did journey out among their father's people, gathering to themselves the strong of virtue and spirit. After the second sunset passed, the brothers brought these people to their father.
Just as Seth had granted his children the powers of darkness, so did Horus imbue his warriors with the gift of light. He commanded them to destroy the plague of Seth, and rid the land of its despair. Then Horus did turn to his sons, and give his last command.
"Twice I have sent you out to defeat my enemies, and twice you have failed. You shall not return to my house until this plague is vanquished from my lands. You shall walk in darkness with only the light I have given you, until the day that the hand of Seth is lifted from my kingdom. Only then shall you again be welcome in your father's house."
With this decree, Amenhotep and Khetamon did take their warriors and leave their home. But Khetamon was sore afraid of Set's children, and he left his brother and fled to a distant land to the east. When Horus learned of Khetamon's cowardice, the gift of light was taken from him. But Horus could not destroy his own son, and ordered that Amenhotep and his warriors would never hunt Khetamon or his descendants or seek revenge for his desertion.
Amenhotep led the disciples of Horus against the armies of Set, and their number did grow as more sought to join the holy crusade against the darkness. But Set's minions were many, and already had begun to carry the plague beyond the lands of Egypt. With Seth's children went the evil of Seth's corruption, and they did serve their vile master faithfully. So then did Amenhotep's armies divide, and some followed Seth's brood out of Egypt.

time. Due to a very serious chronic illness. I recently began what appears
to be a second wind of Life. So, I sent in all the paperwork to the Treasurer
last week. I was Initialized in person by then Priestess Webb III. Your
site caught me eye. I was curious to see just what this new internet would
bring to TOS. It appears you are caring it well. How much communication
is going on between members now? Before it was just the ICR in the back
of the Tablets. I was with the Order of the Python. An Order for Artists.
Is it still up and running? I used the Gates of Hell as my Pylon. Nothing
close enough for my tastes. I have developed a new sense of vigor and strength.
I can not say how long it shall last, but this time I go with a bang! Once
everything gets straighten out, maybe we shall cross paths again. I was
just curious to see if TOS made the right moves with the internet. So far,
I am pleased at what I see. You make a good spokesperson trying to explain
an entirely strange concept to outsiders who have been drilled into their
minds that what you are telling them: to be an Individual, is an answer.

Comments: In my experience of scouring the internet for TOS related
information i have found that you certainly provide an useful "rounding
out" of the total public face of the TOS. Don Webb and Michael Aquino
provide excellent documents of Setian philosophy, "Uncle" Setnakt provides
some very useful practical advice, but we (those who are not yet TOS members)
never see them interract with others, and are hence left wondering about
their personalities. Your FAQ section and comments regarding the rantings...sorry,
critique, of your page give non-setians some brief insight into the personality
of at least one Setian. You display a very reasonable and mature attitude,
deal with comments fairly, and with (importantly) a sense of humour. When
researching such things one must always be wary that the members may not
be nice, or even sane, people. If all Setians are like you, it would seem
an organisation capable of great advancement. My one question regards
suggestions as to how one who (due to university and work time commitments)
cannot presently join the TOS (but may like to in the future) improve
their magical ability in preparation (non-phyiscal "excercises", for example)
for such. Thanks for the valuable information you have provided and hopefully

Comments: As a student of theology it seems to me that behind the
quasi-mythical exterior, there is an intellectual side to the principal
of adherance to Settian beliefs. Unfortunately there are many 'cults'
that I have studied that support the view that they are transparent financially
orientated schemes that lack any mental discipline. Without the benefit
of further information it it is difficult to see the temple as unique.

Comments: From what I've read so far, the Temple of Set seems to
have a very good head on its shoulders. One thing that got my attention
is the concern for the after-life. For some time now I've thought that
there has to be some way to retain a form of self-consciousness when the
body dies. I try to practice this when I am sleeping. At some point in
my sleep I realize I am sleeping and I am conscious of it, but the trick
is to stay focused and not wake up once I realize what is happening. I'm
not sure if this sort of practice has any merit since I've never been
dead, but I look at sleeping as the next closest thing to death. I may
be wrong, who knows. Other than that, your website is very informative
and well organized. Thank you for having it on the WWW, otherwise I may
have never found out anything about the Temple of Set.

Comments: Read several sites about ToS and was intrigued enough
to contact Orders of Leviathan and Trapazoid via email. I was honored
to receive visitations from Trapazoid Order and have yet to meet one that
is not a credit to the Trapazoid or to Set himself. I have found them
to uphold the honor of ToS as only the fabled knights of olde were renowned
to do and would be proud to claim any of them as close friends. I have
submitted request of sponsorship to the Exec. Director of ToS and await
their reply with bated breath.

Comments: Why do people that are after finding the true inner self
and want to be individualists, join a cult? But I hold a great respect
